Internet bragging seems a lot less prevelant then it was a few years ago, and our reports tend to be even keeled not reporting fish numbers great enough that they would be jumping in your waders even if they were! We believe our web reports are the straightest poop by far about Oak Orchard and most WNY conditions. Most action came on our Cannon Downriggers fished 30-50 down with sliders. Lake Alice ice cover is probably days away from going away. Since its still busy with plenty of Kings around, anglers need to carefully spot the places where the browns are shadowing the Kings. For now in the near term low and clear flows are not in the cards. Fishing pressure is moderate right now and generally guys are moving around offering chances to fish different spots between the swingers and the drifters be it fly, float or spin. Any significant precipitation or melt off or runoff could bring all the trib flows right back high and off color again. The smaller side channels and Trout and Orwell brook all have fish; which are providing the most action at this time. We did not take one fish on flasher/fly. Agreeable temps are expected today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday) with a forecasted snow storm expected Thursday. Once pressured, browns may move a little distance from the tails of the salmon but they will still likely be in the closest broken water downstream. These events were very well received last season despite very short notice. Flows are dropping and clearing all around. The next spate of water could bring in the fresh spring steelhead looking for warmer water. Going SW or just by the nature of the LES bands having moved around, accumulations will be more in different nearby areas. Not a lot of fish reported holding, still on that early run kamikazee mission to the dam. In the Oak, flows are moderate and mostly clear and likewise may hold onto those fair moderate flows instead of dropping back to real low. If an angler arrives at a parking lot and there are several cars, they should consider going to another parking lot. The last 2 days the salmon have moved closer and closer to the rivers. No real change yet seen in Oak upstream headwater flows but shortly Canal water will run out and Id be looking for some kind of continued lowering flows by end of week or weekend that is without any new significant precipitation for runoff.
